Steel alloy 52100 is a high-carbon, chromium-containing alloy, ideal for parts that require high resistance to severe wear. It has excellent friction and fatigue resistance as well as extremely high tensile strength and hardness, making it particularly popular for bearings.
52100 has a machining cost factor of 4.8 when compared to steel 12L14. It can be formed, forged, hot and cold worked, annealed, tempered, and case hardened.
